Playing on Columbus Day, the Women's Volleyball (3-12, 1-6 CUNYAC) team could not find the keys to success, as the squad lost a pair of CUNYAC matches.  After getting swept by John Jay (5-16, 3-4 CUNYAC) 25-16, 25-20 and 25-21, the Bridges were able to take a set off of CSI (8-12, 4-2 CUNYAC before falling in four, 25-20, 24-26, 25-21 and 25-11.

"Our service reception let us down during both matches, said Head Coach Joanne Riggs.  "This young team is still adjusting to the hard and fast game of our opponents. They are working hard to enhance their skills."

BC played a clean offensive match against John Jay, committing only ten hitting errors.  John Jay controlled the first set, winning 25-16, but faced stiffer competition from the Bridges in sets two and three, winning 25-20 and 25-21.  Caitlin McMullen (Midwood / Brooklyn, NY) paced Brooklyn with six kills and five service aces, while also contributing a block.

Brooklyn then engaged in a tough match against CSI.  After dropping the first set 25-20, the Bridges rallied to take the second set 26-24.  After a close third set however, which BC narrowly lost 25-21, the Dolphins took control, taking the fourth set 25-11.  McMullen picked up another seven aces in the contest, while Ezgi Ozdemir (Abraham Lincoln / Brooklyn, NY) notched eleven digs.  Joanna Tepedino (St. Joseph by the Sea / Staten Island, NY) led the CSI offense, recording thirteen kills in the match.

Brooklyn will take on St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) and College at Old Westbury this Saturday in a multi-match, hosted by St. Joseph's.  The Bridges return to conference play against Hunter College Tuesday October 20 on the road.
