Men's Soccer Loses Non-League Game, 5-1 To NJCU

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team (3-6-2) fell to New Jersey City University (6-4-2) by the final score of 5-1 on Monday evening at the Aviator.

Jersey City got two first half goals from forward Jilmar Perez (South Brunswick / Princeton, NJ) as they earned their sixth win of the season.

Brooklyn scored their lone goal on the evening by way of a beautiful corner kick by Miguel Veliz-Fitz (FDR / Brooklyn, NY), who set up Rondel King (Abraham Lincoln / Trinidad & Tobago) for the second half score.

Freshman keeper Anthony Sideris (St. Demetrios / Astoria, NY) showed flashes of excellence as he made 10 saves on the evening.

"NJCU is a tactically sound team," said Head Coach Rawle Hensford. "We matched up well with them, however I felt we were not able to come up with the defensive stops when we needed them and did not do enough in the attacking half to create chances."

Brooklyn will look to improve upon their effort when they return to CUNYAC action on Wednesday as they travel to the Bronx to take on the Lehman Lightning at 4:00 pm.
