Box Score
The Women's Volleyball team (3-10) fell in three sets to the Purchase College Panthers (6-13) on Senior Night, 25-23, 25-11 and 25-21. Despite the loss, Head Coach
Joanne Riggs praised her seniors following the match.
“Thea, Daphne and Joy played their hearts out,” said Riggs “and put on a show for their younger teammates by playing strong and never giving up even when the competition was stronger than they were.”
Daphne Brunet (Willi-Graf / Brooklyn, NY) led the Bridges with six kills, while captain
Thea Schleiben (Rudolf Steiner / New York, NY) recorded a team leading eight assists.
Joy Rotstein (Ezra Academy / Brooklyn, NY) contributed one kill of her own.
The first set was tight all the way, but the Panthers pulled through in the end 25-23 behind the strong hitting of Taylor Edelman (Bethel / Bethel, CT), who notched eight kills, and Olivia Hintz (East Aurora / East Aurora, NY) who tallied seven.
After being dominated in the second set 25-11, Brooklyn College bounced back and took an early lead in the third. However, Purchase's offense again proved to be too strong, and they took the set 25-21.
With their home schedule now complete, the Bridges will have an opportunity to rest before traveling to Hunter college on Monday, October 12, when BC will take on John Jay and CSI in CUNYAC play.
