Men's Soccer Wins Second Straight, 2-1 Over Purchase

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team (2-1) got their second straight victory as they went on the road to knock off non-conference foe Purchase College (1-1) 2-1 on Thursday evening.

BC fell behind in the first half as Purchase got an early goal from sophomore forward Nick Esposito, who took a cross by classmate Ki Walker and knocked it home to give the host Panthers an early 1-0 lead.

Igor Kozlov (Elite / Amsterdam, Netherlands) then scored off a rebound of a Mack Diller (Brooklyn Technical / Brooklyn, NY) shot to tie the score at one.  Brooklyn got a few more shots on goal before going into the half with some confidence as the score remained 1-1.

In the second half the play was back and forth but there was no scoring until Diller sent a flat ball through the defense, allowing Duane Heaven (Prospect Heights / Brooklyn, NY) to cross the ball over to Muhammad Mutawakkil (Ulul-Alab / Nigeria), who scored the go-ahead goal.

Coach Hensford, delighted with the road victory against a physical Purchase squad, said, "Overall we showed a great deal of character and effort to come from behind to score two unanswered goals and sustain the late surge by Purchase."

Brooklyn will look to continue their win streak as they host Farmingdale State on Saturday at 1:00 pm.  The team will begin conference play next Wednesday as they battle City Tech at 4:00 pm.
