Women's Volleyball Earns First Victory

City Tech Box Score

Lehman College Box Score

The Women's Volleyball (1-2) team split a pair of conference matches this weekend, earning their first victory of the season in the process. Brooklyn College swept City Tech (0-2) before being defeated by Lehman (2-2) in a multi-match that took place at York College on September 12.

The Bridges began the day with a hard-fought straight sets victory over City Tech, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-19. In the first win of the year, BC spread the ball around on offense while minimizing hitting errors, and played solid defense at the net and in the back row. Four different players recorded solo blocks for the Bridges, while Kathy Chu (Bayside / Queens, NY) and Iris Clopton-Robinson (Monticello / Monticello, NY) tallied seven digs apiece.

In the second match of the day, Brooklyn College fell to Lehman, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-11. The Bridges continued to keep the ball alive on defense, as Chu and Clopton-Robinson continued their fine play, notching nine and seven digs, respectively. However, Lehman's Gerri-Ann Martin paced her team with eight kills in eighteen attempts, leading the Lightning to victory.

BC will try to get back to .500 as they head to CCNY on September 15 at 7:00 pm. The Bridges will host the College of New Rochelle on September 17 at 7:00 pm in the team's next home match.
