Box Score
Hackettstown, NJ---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team (2-4) played their 2nd straight road game in New Jersey on Monday afternoon, and although they held their opponent scoreless in the first half, Centenary College (3-4-1) scored three second half goals to claim a 3-0 non-conference victory. Despite the loss, Head Coach
Rawle Hensford was able to take some positives from the game.
"I was very impressed with the way we played," said Hensford. "We were very organized and kept our shapes which lead to a number of quality build ups offensively."
Rookie goalkeeper
Anthony Sideris (St. Demetrios / Astoria, NY) maintained a shutout through the first half, making some nice saves, however he was not able to stage off the Cyclone attack in the second half.
"We went into the half 0-0 and were confident that we would find the brake through in the second half," said Hensford. "However, we were not able to execute in the final third, while Centenary was very physical and took advantage of the chances, scoring three quality goals."
The Cyclones' first score came at the 56:08 mark when senior co-captain Chris Guandango (West Milford / West Milford, NJ) headed the ball in on a throw in from Patrick Bourland (Hackettstown / Vienna, NJ).
Centenary's defense continued to clamp down, not allowing a single BC shot in the second half. Dan Charkowski (Wayne Hills / Wayne, NJ) notched the team's second goal at the 78:48 mark with an unassisted score. Alex Khouri (Liberty High / Eldersbug, MD) put the final nail in the coffin, scoring at 84:28 off another assist from Bourland.
Coach Hensford's crew will look to bounce back at his Almer Mater, York College, on Wednesday, September 23rd, at 4:00 pm, as the team looks to get their first conference win of the season.
