Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis Team (5-3, 4-0 CUNYAC) defeated York College (3-2, 3-2 CUNYAC) 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon, moving them into first place in the CUNYAC standings.
Nadine Alexander (Boys & Girls / Brooklyn, NY) won her #3 singles match over York's Amba Pika (Newtown / Queens Village, NY), 6-2, 6-0 and
Erika Gil (Fort Hamilton / Brooklyn, NY) won her #4 singles match, 6-0, 6-2 over Ashley Willock (Law & Government / Valencia, Trinidad) to clinch the 8-1 victory.
Alexander and Gil had already won their #2 doubles match-up with Willock and Pika, 8-1 as BC took all three doubles matches to give them a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
York picked up their lone win in the #1 singles flight, when Valerie Roland (Sheepshead Bay / Brooklyn, NY) defeated
Ruth Perez (EBC Bushwick / Brooklyn, NY) when Perez was forced to retire due to injury.

The win places Brooklyn in first place temporarily as they prepare for Thursday's showdown with second place Hunter College, who is 3-0 in conference play.
