BC Women Go To 5-0 In Conference Play

New York, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team (9-5, 5-0 CUNYAC) used a 36-14 run to close the first half and take a commanding 42-20 lead into the locker room on Wednesday Evening, as they cruised past John Jay (0-14, 0-5 CUNYAC), 79-54.

Each of the 13 players on the Brooklyn College roster registered in the scoring column, with four starters notching double-figures.

Justine O'Callahan (Floral Park / Floral Park, NY) and Frances Lyons (James Madison / Brooklyn, NY) scored 13 a piece to lead the Bulldogs. 

"I was impressed by our energy tonight," said BC Head Coach Alex Lang.  "John Jay is well coached and is a tough defensive team with strong guards, and therefore it was key that we made an impression on this game early."

Junior point guard Ariel Smith (Wallkill / Newburgh, NY) had an outstanding game, scoring 12 points while nabbing 5 steals and dishing out a game-high 6 assists.

Brooklyn won the battle of the boards, 55-42 and had a plus-7 turnover differential.  

BC will return home to face Hunter on Saturday as the first part of a CUNYAC Doubleheader.  The game will tip-off at 12:30.
