Brooklyn College Invitational Results

Bronx, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Cross Country Team finished with a score of 87, good for 3rd place out of 10 teams at the Brooklyn College Invitational 6K race on Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park.
Pratt won the meet, finishing with 50 points, while Purchase finished 2nd with 67 points.  

Sabrina Washington (Elmira / Elmira, NY), Joanne Mundo (Fort Hamilton / Brooklyn, NY) and Konika Chowdhury (John Bowne / Flushing, NY) each medalled for Brooklyn College, while Washington and Mundo were both among the top five finishers.

Washington, a two-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week and the reigning conference Runner of the Week, had another top-notch performance, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 27:07.70.  Washington finished just 24.8 seconds behind Purchase's Colleen Walker who was the first woman to cross the finish line.

Mundo was impressive as well, finishinig 5th overall with a time of 27:57.01, while Chowdhury was the 12th fastest finisher, racing to a time of 29:19.57.

Karolina Gorna (Queens Vocational / Maspeth, NY) was the team's 4th finisher, finishing 38th overall with a time of 33:07.56.  

Ruth Perez (EBC Bushwick / Brooklyn, NY) rounded out the scoring for Brooklyn, finishing 40th, a few seconds behind Gorna, with a time of 33:20.21.

"It was great to see our team earn three medals and a third place team finish at our invitational," said head coach Alex Lang.  "Many of our runners gave their top efforts, setting personal bests and pushing to compete for the first place trophy."

The women will be back at it next week as they compete in the York College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday.
