Men’s Soccer Stung by Yellow Jackets, 6-0

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a CUNY Athletic Conference match to the Yellow Jackets of City Tech last night at Floyd Bennett Field by the score of 6-0. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 2-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in conference play, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in league play.

City Tech got on the board early with a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of action. Tirelo Morake netted the first goal unassisted in the eighth minute and later assisted on the second goal of the game as Redon Rexha found the back of the net in the ninth minute. Morake would finish the game with three assists, to go along with his goal; while Rexha recorded two goals and an assist.

The Yellow Jackets continued their offensive explosion with four goals in the second half, highlighted by reigning CUNYAC Player of the Week Carl Michel's hat trick.

City Tech controlled much of the game, outshooting Brooklyn 21-7, while also holding a 4-1 corner kick advantage. Both teams played a physical match, as the Yellow Jackets where whistled for 13 fouls, compared to the Bulldogs 11. Three yellow cards were also handed out, with Brooklyn getting two.

Freshman keeper Stamatis Boundouris (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) played all 90 minutes in net for Brooklyn, tallying six saves.

The Bulldogs return to action this Saturday, October 15th, as Brooklyn will play host to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a vital CUNYAC match at Kingsborough Community College Field. Brooklyn will need a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Play is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
