Men’s Soccer Falls to Berkeley, 2-1

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY --- A pair of second half goals doomed the Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team, as they dropped a non-conference match to the Berkeley College Knights by a final score of 2-1 on a rainy afternoon today at Kingsborough Community College Field. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 2-7-2 on the season, while the Knights move to 8-2 on the year.

Brooklyn jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Pajtim Gjonbalaj (FDR / Brooklyn, NY) took a pass from Brendan Baker (Chaminade / Rockville Centre) and put in the first score of the game just before the half.

Berkeley would come back with the equalizer moments into the second half, as Mamadou Diallo headed home a goal on a corner kick from Hector Velasquez (Aviation / Long Island City).

With the game tied at one, and the rain coming down in a consistent downpour, there was not much ball control, however Berkeley would get another tally as Dela Wornawovor (Ghana) took a deflected goalkeeper save and converted to give the Knights the 2-1 lead.

Berkeley was able to withstand Brooklyn's final surges and earn the non-conference win.

The Bulldogs will head out on the road Wednesday for a conference tilt with Hunter College.  The game will be crucial for Brooklyn as they try to earn a spot in the CUNYAC Tournament.
