Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming team picked up its second win on the season downing the Bears of Saint Joseph's College – Brooklyn by a score of 70-51 tonight at the West Quad Center Natatorium. The victory marked the first ever win for the program in the West Quad Center. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 2-4 on the season, while the Bears fall to 1-1 on the year.

The Bulldogs got on the board early, taking the first event of the night, the 200-Yard Medley Relay; as the quartet of Megan Pendergast (Warwick, NY/Warwick), Catherine Chan (Flushing, NY/Townsend Harris), Valentina Monroy (Brooklyn, NY/Edward R. Murrow) and Marisa Paolillo (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) took home first place.

Overall, Brooklyn took first place finishes in nine of the 14 events that were held on the night. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Monroy, who took three first place finishes as she bested the field in the 200-Yard Individual Medley, the 100-Yard Butterfly and the 200-Yard Freestyle. Pendergast took home pair of first place finishes in the 50-Yard Butterfly and the 100-Yard Individual Medley.

Rounding out the top finishers for Brooklyn were Paolillo (50-Yard Freestyle), Lucie O'Donnell (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) (100-Yard Freestyle) and Sun Mei Liu (New Hyde Park, NY/Townsend Harris) (50-Yard Backstroke). Liu, who is normally a diver, was impressive competing in her first swimming event.

“Today was historic,” said first-year Head Coach Jillian Wyrick. “The Women won the first home meet in the West Quad Natatorium! We won nine of today's 14 events and swam with such courage and tenacity. We have had a packed schedule these past 10 days and are relatively broken down, but the women didn't' show it at all. I'm so proud of them; this was truly a team effort. I could not have asked for more from them.”

Brooklyn will be back in action next Tuesday, November 30th, as the Bulldogs will travel to CUNY Athletic Conference rival Hunter College. The meet is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time.
