Results

New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming team dropped a CUNY Athletic Conference meet to the host Hawks of Hunter College earlier tonight by the score of 53-42 at the North Pool. The Bulldogs fall to 2-5 on the season, 1-3 in the CUNYAC; while the Hawks improve to 4-2 overall and remain perfect in league play at 3-0.

The quartet of Megan Pendergast (Warwick, NY/Warwick), Lucie O'Donnell (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach), Valentina Monroy (Brooklyn, NY/Edward R. Murrow) and Marisa Paolillo (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard early, winning the first event of the evening, the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:12.33, far outpacing Hunter's quartet whom touched the wall at 2:35.03.

Paolillo had a solid individual performance on the night, taking home a pair of first place finishes in the 50-Yard Freestyle (28.88) and the 100-Yard Freestyle (1:04.71). O'Donnell and Monroy also had first place finishes in the 200-Yard IM (2:33.58) and the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:12.06), respectively.

“Paolillo's 100-Free, as well as some other races (O'Donnell's 200-IM and Monroy's 100-Fly), demonstrated that we are starting to develop some endurance,” said Head Coach Jillian Wyrick. “We are finishing races stronger and showing more and more confidence with every meet. The team does a great job of learning from their mistakes and making quick adjustments. I'm really happy with how tonight went.”

Brooklyn will be back in action this Saturday, December 4th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Old Westbury, NY to take on the Panthers of the College of Old Westbury. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm.
