Old Westbury, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Swimming & Diving team downed the Panthers of Old Westbury, 98-71, earlier today for the programs first victory of the season after being suspended following the 2003-2004 season. The Bulldogs improve to 1-3 on the year, while the Panthers fall to 1-2 on the season.
The quartet of
Yevgeniy Kuksa (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Technical),
Brian Clarke (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Ford),
Max Kravtsov (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) and newcomer
Aleks Goos (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) got the Bulldogs on the board early, winning the first event of the day, the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:07.54.
In the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, the quartet of Clarke and new additions
Roman Vilnyanskiy (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Technical),
Eugene Yesin (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) and
Patrick O'Leary-Gullo (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Ford) took first place with a time of 1:52.88.
Kravtsov also won the 200-Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:42.27, as well as the 1,000-Yard Freestyle with a time of 14:00.27. O'Leary-Gullo took home first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:36.34.
"I think today was an accurate demonstration of the potential our men's team has," said Head Coach Jillian Wyrick. "The new additions really fill some key holes, and add depth to the group. I am so proud of the men, today is a testament to how much they have improved."
Brooklyn will be back in action this Wednesday, December 8th, as the Bulldogs will host CUNY Athletic Conference rival the College of Staten Island at 6:00 pm at the West Quad Center Pool.
