Men's Soccer Remains Undefeated With 3-2 Win Over Staten Island

Box Score

Staten Island, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer Team (2-0-1, 1-0 CUNYAC) remained undefeated on the season on Wednesday afternoon as they took to the road to earn their first conference victory, edging out Staten Island (0-5-1, 0-1 CUNYAC), 3-2.

The Bulldogs dominated the opening play, scoring three goals in the first 13:07 of play, taking a 3-0 lead. "We started the game well today;" said Head Coach Rawle Hensford.  "After coming off a 0-0 tie where we failed to capitalize on the many chances we created, today we scored all three of our goals inside the first 14 minutes of the game, capitalizing on our early chances and converting a penalty."

Drilon Sahitaj (Brooklyn Studio / Brooklyn, NY) notched the first score for the Bulldogs as he got an opportunity inside the box.

Two minutes later, Rondel King (Abraham Lincoln / Sangre Grande, Trinidad & Tobago), who assisted on the first goal, took a pass from Igor Kozlov (Elite / Amsterdam, Netherlands) and gave his team the 2-0 lead.

Mack Diller (Brooklyn Tech / Brooklyn, NY) was able to get the third goal on a penalty kick to give  BC the early 3-0 lead.

Staten Island would mount a comeback as they put together consecutive goals from Lirim Begai (Susan E. Wagner / Staten Island, NY) and Paully Awad (Monsignor Farrell / Staten Island, NY) before the half to cut the deficit to 3-2 at the break.

Both defenses would settle down in the second half as there would be no scoring in the period, giving Brooklyn their second win of the seaseon.

Brooklyn will return to action on Friday as they host FDU-Florham on Friday at Kingsborough Community College at 4 pm.
