Box Score

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women' s Volleyball Team (5-1, 3-1 CUNYAC) has shown tremendous improvement in 2010, winning their first five matches, however tonight they saw the first road block as the defending conference champion, CCNY (7-6, 2-2 CUNYAC) handed the Bulldogs the three-set loss, 25-20, 25-16, 25-10.

Ruth Reyes (John F. Kennedy / Bronx, NY), a 5-10 freshman, led the way for CCNY with 9 kills, while her teammate Dalliana Toussaint (Secondary School for Research / Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 8 kills.

The Bulldogs started the match strong, jumping out to a 12-10 first-set lead, but the Beavers came storming back to go on a 10-2 run, taking an insurmountable 20-14 lead and ultimately sweeping Brooklyn in tonight's conference showdown.

For BC, freshman outside hitter Maritza Morency (Nouveau College Bird / Port-au-Prince, Haiti) played an inspired match, leading the team with 7 kills and making several hustle plays throughout.

"This was the toughest competition we have faced this season," said Head Coach Joanne Riggs. "I thought our intensity was great to start the match, we were just not able to sustain it throughout."

The Bulldogs will look to get back to their winning ways on Thursday as they host Old Westbury at 7 pm in a non-conference match.
