Men’s Soccer Falls to Baruch, 3-1

Maspeth, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team dropped a CUNYAC match to the Bearcats of Baruch College, 3-1, this evening at the Met Oval in Maspeth, NY. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 2-3-1 overall on the season, 1-1 in the CUNYAC, while the Bearcats improve to 4-3-1 on the year, 2-1 in the CUNYAC. 

Baruch's Igor Polisski got the Bearcats on the board first scoring on a header in the 23rd minute off of a cross by teammate Andreas Hansson. 

The score would remain 1-0 in favor of host Baruch until Val Kirykovich found the back of the net in the 48th minute from a Jason Lopez corner kick, giving the Bearcats a 2-0 advantage. Brooklyn's Mack Diller (Brooklyn, NY/Brooklyn Technical) would later cut the Bulldogs deficit to 2-1 in the 74th minute converting on a penalty kick for the Bulldogs lone goal of the match. 

Polisski would notch his second goal of the night and final Baruch goal in the 84th minute with the help of Brian Wright and Ibek Abdrahmanov, for the 3-1 final. 

"Give Baruch a lot of credit, they were well organized and balanced," said head coach Rawle Hensford. "In my opinion, they are the strongest team we've faced so far. Overall, I'm proud of the way we started and executed the game plan. However, we have to do better defensively to win these tough conference games."

Overall, the Bearcats controlled much of the match, holding a 29-3 shot advantage. Baruch also held the corner kick advantage, 4-2. Each team was whistled for 13 fouls apiece in what was a physical match. 

Brooklyn freshman keeper Stamatis Boundouris (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) recorded seven saves in net. 

The Bulldogs will be back in action this Saturday, September 25th, when Brooklyn will host the reigning CUNYAC Champions York College Cardinals. Match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start.
