Women’s Swimming Falls to SUNY Maritime, 116-87

Throggs Neck, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming team dropped a non-conference meet earlier tonight against SUNY Maritime College by a score of 116-87 at the Riesenberg Hall Pool. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 3-8 overall on the season, while the Privateers improve to 3-7 overall on the year.

BC got on the board early taking the first event of the evening, the 400-Yard Medley Relay, as the foursome of Stephanie Caravello, Lucie O'Donnell, Valentina Monroy and Marisa Paolillo blazed their opposing quartet with a time of 5:00.65. Maritime finished in 5:30.48. Brooklyn also took home the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay, as the team of Anastasia Korpusov, Monroy, Caravello and Paolillo finished with a time of 4:38.15.

Paolillo posted a solid individual performance on the night with a pair of first place finishes, besting the field in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 29.57 and the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:05.31.

O'Donnell and Monroy also recorded first place finishes, as O'Donnell came in first in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle with a time of 13:00.46, while Monroy finished first in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:19.43. O'Donnell nearly missed a second first place finish in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:12.98. The Privateers' Caroline Hickey edged O'Donnell touching the wall at 1:12.58.
