Men’s Soccer Blanked by Lehman, 3-0

Box Score

Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team was shutout by the Lightning of Lehman College, 3-0, earlier today in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 1-7 overall on the season and 0-4 in the CUNYAC; as the Lightning improve to 6-4 overall on the year and 4-1 in league play.

Lehman got on the board early on an unassisted goal from Oumar Niang in the eight minute. Niang would later strike again with his second goal of the afternoon in the 35th minute with the help from Carlos Ribeiro, putting the host Lightning up 2-0.

The game would remain 2-0 until late in the 52nd minute, as Lehman's Momar Thiam found the back of the net unassisted for the third and final goal of the game.

The Lightning defense stifled the BC offense all game long, as the Bulldogs were held to just seven shots (one on goal) on the day.

Junior Brandon Sewnath had the best opportunity to put Brooklyn on the scoreboard in the second half, but was turned away by the Lehman keeper, Marcos Coto-Batres, who was able to preserve the shutout victory. Coto-Batres played all 90 minutes in goal recording one save.

BC's sophomore goalie Stamatis Boundouris played all 90 minutes in net recording seven saves on the afternoon.

For the game, Lehman was whistled for 11 fouls, while Brooklyn was called for eight fouls. The Lightning held the shooting edge, 20-7, as well as the corner kick advantage, 8-2.

Brooklyn returns to the pitch on Monday, October 3rd, as the Bulldogs will play host to Berkeley College in a non-conference match. The game will be played in Staten Island, NY on the campus of the College of Staten Island. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
