Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis team edged out a gritty 5-4 victory over the Cardinals of York College earlier today in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action at the Roosevelt Courts on the BC campus. With the win, the Bulldogs remain perfect in conference play at 6-0 and improve to 9-2 overall on the season; while the Cardinals fall to an even 7-7 overall on the year and 4-3 in league play.
Today's match was a continuation of the original match that took place on Monday, October 3rd, which was suspended due to rain.
With the teams splitting the singles flights 3-3; doubles play would end up being the difference maker, as BC took two out of the three doubles flights.

Yuliya Orkis and junior
Diana Rafailova downed the duo of Nicole Jones and Amba Chanoine, 8-5, at number 1 doubles. The Bulldogs would also take home the win at number 2 doubles, as senior
Janice Shen and sophomore
Gianna Gelosi bested the tandem of Valerie Roland and Nina Olladikankwu, 8-1.
Orkis and Shen would also be victorious in singles play, as Orkis took down Roland, 6-0, 6-0 in number 1 singles; while Shen out battled Chanoine, 6-4, 7-5, in number 3 singles.
BC sophomore
Maria Sanz took home the win at #4 singles, getting the better of Olladikankwu, 6-2, 6-2.
Brooklyn is currently riding a four-match winning streak and will return to the courts tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in a vital CUNYAC match. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the Roosevelt Courts.
