Men’s Soccer Falls to John Jay, 2-0

Maspeth, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team lost to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice by a 2-0 score earlier today in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) contest at Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth, NY.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-9-2 overall on the season and 0-6-1 in the CUNYAC; while the Bloodhounds improve to 5-10-3 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.

For John Jay, Rafi Mashirqi got the Bloodhounds on the board at the 25:21 mark with Jonathan Kirschen assisting on the goal.

The match would remain 1-0 in favor of John Jay the rest of the half as the game headed into the intermission break.

Entering the second half, the Bloodhounds would not waste much time netting its second goal of the day, as Edward Gonzalez put John Jay up by a comfortable 2-0 margin at the 49:49 mark.

That's all Bloodhounds goalkeeper Vitecha Vochaon would need, as he recorded six saves in net to complete the shutout victory.

BC sophomore goalie Stamatis Boundouris made three saves in net, while juniors Denton Laing and Miguel Veliz-Fitz each had a couple of shots on goal, but were unable to convert on their opportunities.

The game featured a very physical match with 32 total fouls called in the game (Brooklyn – 18, John Jay – 14).

The Bulldogs held the shooting edge, 13-11, and also held the corner kick advantage, 5-2.

Brooklyn returns to the pitch on Monday, October 17th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Throggs Neck, NY to take on Maritime College. The match is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start time.
