Women’s Tennis Rolls Past St. Joe’s (Bklyn), 9-0

Flushing, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis team shutout the Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) by a score of 9-0 this evening at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 6-2 overall on the season, while the Lady Bears fall to 0-2 overall on the year.

Brooklyn began the match by taking all three doubles matches to jump out to an early 3-0 advantage. The Bulldogs easily took the number 1 and number 3 doubles matches by an 8-0 score and number 2 doubles 8-1.

BC continued its dominance in singles play, as freshman Yuliya Orkis (number 1 singles – 6-0, 6-0), sophomores Maria Sanz (number 2 singles – 6-2, 6-1) and Norma Lynn Chabbott (number 3 singles – 6-1, 6-4), junior Hadiya Cameron (number 4 singles – 6-3, 6-4), freshman Maryam Esperanza F. Razaz (number 5 singles – 6-0, 6-2) and senior Natalie Gonzalez (number 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0) all took home wins in their respective matches to complete the sweep.

The Bulldogs return to the courts tomorrow, Thursday, October 6th, as Brooklyn will play host to the defending City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) champion Hunter College Hawks. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 pm at the Roosevelt Courts on the BC campus.
