Men's Swimming Falls To Old Westbury In Home Opener 106-76

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Swimming & Diving team gave a great effort, but came up short in their 2011-2012 home opener on Saturday afternoon at the West Quad Center, falling to the College at Old Westbury by a score of 116-76.

With the loss, BC falls to 0-2 overall on the season; while Old Westbury improves to 3-2 overall on the year.

For the Bulldogs, Patrick O'Leary-Gullo had a solid individual performance posting two first place finishes on the day. Coming in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle, O'Leary-Gullo was the first to touch the wall with a time of 13:45.61. Later on in the 500-Yard Freestyle, he recorded a time of 6:39.98 to best the field.

Other notable performers for BC on the day were James Marty, Ka Ho Yeung, Yury Nijnik and Roman Vilnyanskiy.

Marty had two second place finishes in the 200-Yard IM (2:31.46) and the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:13.68). Yeung came in second place in the 200-Yard Freestyle with time of 2:36.92, while Nijnik came in second with a time of 1:32.92 in the 100-Yard Butterfly. Vilnyanskiy came in second place in the 100-Yard Freestyle (55.99)

Brooklyn will be off for a couple of weeks before they play host to the Cardinals of York College on Friday, December 2nd in a CUNY Athletic Conference showdown.  The meet will begin at 6:00 pm at the West Quad Center.
