Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Fall at SUNY Maritime

Throggs Neck, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams both dropped their non-conference meet against the Privateers of SUNY Maritime College on Friday evening. The Brooklyn Men lost 135-61, while the Brooklyn Women lost 122-71.

The BC Men drop to 1-4 overall on the season, while the BC Women fall to 3-4 overall on the year.

On the women's side, Jenny Lee posted a first place finish in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:27.46. Catherine Chan also recorded a first place finish in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:32.79, while quartet of Jillian Escobar, Electra Telesford, Amanda Martino and Tonia Jerrick registered a first place finish with a time of 2:37.51 in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.

Valentina Monroy also had a strong showing with a pair of second place finishes in the 200-Yard IM (2:42.94) and the 100-Yard Freestyle (1:02.80).

On the men's side, James Marty recorded a first place finish with a time of 6:22.62 in the 500-Yard Freestyle, while Brian Clarke came in first place in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:17.75. The team of Maksim Kravtsov, Anthony Sideris, Patrick O'Leary-Gullo and Vadim Reynus came in first in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:52.03.

Brooklyn will now enter its break for final exams and the holiday season. The Bulldogs return to the pool after the New Year, on January 5th, as BC will travel to the Bronx, NY to take on City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) rival Lehman College. The meet is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time.
