New Rochelle, NY---Competing at the College of New Rochelle tri-match, the Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team split its two matches on the day, taking the first game over borough and conference rival Medgar Evers College in straight sets, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-18), while dropping its second game against host New Rochelle, 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 14-25, 25-17).
The Bulldogs' record now stands at 6-5 overall on the season.
In the opener against Medgar Evers, sophomore outside hitter
Jillian Escobar had a match-high seven kills to go along with two aces and seven digs. Senior middle hitter
Caitlin McMullen added five kills and three aces, while sophomore setter
Maritza Morency chipped in with 18 assists.
In the nightcap against New Rochelle, Escobar finished the night with nine kills, 19 digs, four aces and a block assist; while McMullen added eight kills, five aces, two block solos and two block assists. Morency chipped in with 20 assists, one ace and eight digs. Junior outside hitter
Electra Telesford recorded four kills, two aces and a block assist.
Brooklyn will return to the court this Tuesday, September 27th, as the Bulldgos will take on City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) rival Hunter College, in a battle of undeafeted teams in conference play. The match is slated for a 6:00 pm start.
