Brooklyn, NY---The Centenary College Cyclones created a whirlwind early in Friday evening's non-conference match and the home Brooklyn College Bulldogs would not recover as they came up on the short end of a 25-8, 25-15, 25-16 decision. With the win the Cyclones improved their record to 7-12 while the Bulldogs fell to 6-7 on the year.
Set one started with Centenary's serving dominating the Brooklyn defense, as they ran off five aces in the first eight point of the match, en route to a commanding 25-8 score.
Set two began with Brooklyn taking an early 3-0 lead, but Centenary came right back with an 8-1 rally and ran away with the set, taking a 25-15 decision.
The third set saw BC keep close as they rallied from a five-point deficit to tie the score at 10, but Centenary shoed their dominance once again, taking 12 of the next 14 points, going on to win the set, 25-16, and capture the match in straight sets.
The Cyclones were led by the trio of Devon Paffendorf, Kelli McMenamin and Erika Chu, who each had five kills. Jelena Markovic had a triple double with match-highs of 12 aces, 10 assists to go along with 13 digs.
The Bulldogs was led by
Jillian Escobar who had five kills.
The Bulldogs won't have to wait long to redeem themselves as they get back on the hardwood tomorrow as they host a trimatch with Sarah Lawrence and Medgar Evers. The schedule for Saturday's action is as follows:
