Women’s Volleyball Drops Season Opener 3-0

Wayne, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team opened the 2011 season this evening at William Patterson University in Wayne, NJ, as the Bulldogs fell to the Pioneers in straight sets 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-20). With the loss, BC begins the year 0-1; while William Patterson improves to 4-0 overall.

The host Pioneers were led by Kim Runge who tallied a game high 19 kills, while hitting .319, to go along with a game best 12 digs for the double double. Liz Dykhouse dished out 17 assists, while Danielle Koukos added 12 assists.

For Brooklyn, junior Alicia Sanchez posted a team-high six kills, while sophomore Jillian Escobar finished with five kills and four service aces. Sophomore Maritza Morency chipped in with 11 digs and nine assists.

The Bulldogs are back in action this Saturday, September 10th, as Brooklyn will take on City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and borough rival Medgar Evers College at 12:00 pm. The game will take place on a neutral court at Baruch College in New York, NY.
