Old Westbury, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams each fell on the road to the Panthers of the College at Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon.
The BC Men lost 114-72, while the BC Women dropped a 90-80 decision.
For the Brooklyn men,
James Marty took home the lone first place finish for the Bulldogs, taking top honors in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:21.03.
Maksim Kravtsov and
Patrick O'Leary-Gullo each posted a pair of second place finishes on the day for BC. Kravtsov took second in both the 200-Yard IM (2:37.56) and the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:17.02), while O'Leary-Gullo came in second in both the 200-Yard Freestyle (2:13.82) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (6:26.69).
On the women's side, the quartet of
Jenny Lee,
Megan Pendergast,
Valentina Monroy and
Amanda Martino posted a first place finish in opening event, the 200-Yard Medley Relay, with a time of 2:25.79.
Lee would also take a pair of first place finishes in her individual events, the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:20.33) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (6:47.73).
Angela Redekop (1,000-Yard Freestyle – 16:05.99) and Monroy (100-Yard Freestyle – 1:06.92) also took first place finishes on the day.
Making her season debut,
Jacqueline Szpunt posted a pair of second place finishes in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (16:18.61) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (8:08.47).
Brooklyn will return to the pool next Saturday, January 21st, as the Bulldogs will travel to Purchase, NY to take on SUNY Purchase. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
