Women’s Basketball Extends Win Streak to Five Straight; Cruise Past NJCU 58-44

Jersey City, NJ --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team extended its winning streak to five-straight with its 58-44 victory over the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in non-conference action earlier tonight at the John J. Moore AFC in Jersey City, NJ.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 13-5 overall on the season; while the Gothic Knights fall to 3-14 overall on the year.

The reigning City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Player of the Week, senior forward Justine O'Callahan, continued her solid play leading all scorers with a game-high 15 points, to go along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

"Justine is beginning to look like she did las year," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "She is giving us a big boost and has been a big reason for our recent success."

Junior guard Charnelle Saint Laurent netted 14 points going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, while freshman guard Nicole Francomano chipped in with 11 points and dished out a game-best five assists. Saint Laurent, who was 5-for-6 from three-point range in Saturday's win over Baruch, has know made nine threes over a two game stretch. 

Junior center Tiffany Thompson grabbed a game-leading 13 rebounds, as BC out-rebounded NJCU 52-39. Sophomore guard Zoe Randolph was big off the BC bench, chipping in with eight points.

Senior Melissa St. Louis contributed with six boards, three assists and a steal in a reserve role for the Bulldogs.

The Gothic Knights were led by Gabrielle Rivera who dropped a team-high 11 points, to go along with a team best 10 rebounds, to record the double-double.  Maxine Kaminski contributed with 10 points.

Brooklyn returns to action this Wednesday, January 25th, as the Bulldogs will put its perfect 6-0 record in CUNYAC play against conference rival John Jay College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm at the Doghouse in New York, NY.
