Purchase, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams lost its dual meet against the Panthers of SUNY Purchase on Thursday night.
The BC Women fell by a score of 105-69, while the BC Men were defeated by a score of 107-85.
On the Men's side, the Bulldogs were led by
Roman Vilnyanskiy and
James Marty, who both took first place finishes. Vilnyanskiy was the first to touch the wall in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:06.06, while Marty beat the field in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:13.37. Vilnyanskiy also took second place in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.89, just missing out on beating the first place time of 24.59.
The team of
Patrick O'Leary-Gullo,
Brian Fay,
Maksim Kravtsov and Vilnyanskiy took first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:46.32.
O'Leary-Gullo also took two second place finishes in the 200 and 500-Yard Freestyles with times of 2:15.32 and 6:30.97, respectively.
On the Women's side,
Valentina Monroy,
Jenny Lee and
Tonia Jerrick each recorded a first place finish. Monroy took first in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:02.96, while Lee took top honors in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:35.90. Jerrick was awarded first place in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:38.33.
Monroy nearly missed out on a second first place finish, as she posted a time of 2:38.84 in the 200-Yard IM, just shy of the top time of 2:38.43. Lee also registered a second place finish with a time of 1:20.41 in the 100-Yard Butterfly.
The quartet of Jerrick,
Amanda Martino,
Angela Redekop and
Stephanie Caravello took first place in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:30.34.
Brooklyn will be back in the pool tonight, as the Bulldogs will travel to Bronxville, NY to take on Sarah Lawrence College. The dual meet is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
