Women’s Volleyball Drops Straight Sets Decision to St. Joe’s (BK)

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team fell to borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in straight sets, 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-22), tonight at Brooklyn Technical High School. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 3-13 overall on the season; while the Bears improve to 8-3 overall on the year with the win.

Brooklyn was led by junior Jillian Escobar, who tallied a team-high eight kills, to go along with eight digs and a match-high four aces. Escobar currently leads all of NCAA Division III in aces-per-set, averaging 1.13.

Freshman Yelizaveta Malysheva chipped in with seven kills and seven digs, while senior Kathy Chu registered a double-double with 25 assists and 10 digs, both team-highs. Juniors Manon Bailly and Kristen King added five kills apiece.

Lauren GaNun registered a game-high 16 kills for the Bears, while Megan Moran contributed with 12 kills. Sabrina Cornia paced the offense with a match-best 33 assists and Anna Carbone recorded a game-high 17 digs.

Brooklyn will be back in action on Tuesday, October 16th, as the Bulldogs will play host to the Beavers of the City College of New York (CCNY) in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match up. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time.
