Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team fell to the Beavers of the City College of New York (CCNY) in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match by a score of 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-7) earlier tonight at the West Quad Center.
With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 3-14 overall on the season and 2-5 in the CUNYAC; while the Beavers improve to 10-16 overall on the year and 6-2 in the conference.
After dropping the opening set 25-22, Brooklyn bounced back to take the second and third sets by identical 25-22 scores, to go up 2-1. However, CCNY would not go down lightly, as the Beavers took the fourth set, 25-17, to force a fifth and final set. CCNY would eventually take the decisive set, 15-7, to earn the thrilling five-set victory.
BC was led by junior
Jillian Escobar, who tallied a match-high 19 kills, to go along with 12 digs, to record a double-double. Senior
Kathy Chu paced the offense with a game-best 40 assists, to go along with five service aces. Sophomore
Kayla Scurry added 10 kills, while senior
Annalisa Carbonaro was solid defensively, registering a match-best 24 digs. Freshman
Yelizaveta Malysheva contributed with 12 digs.
The Beavers were paced by Dalliana Toussaint, who finished the night with a double-double with 16 kills and 19 digs, both team-highs. Aimme Grossman dished out 33 assists, while Elsie Almiron also chipped in with 19 digs to go along with eight kills.
Brooklyn will be back in action this Friday, October 19th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Bronxville, NY to take on the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
