Women's Soccer Cruises to Big Win On Senior Night

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Soccer team concluded its 2012 inaugural season with an 8-0 shutout victory over borough rival Medgar Evers College this evening at Brooklyn College Field. The Bulldogs finish the season with a 6-7-1 overall record, while the Cougars fall to 0-12.

Prior to the start of the match, head coach Patrick Horne honored his seven seniors for their hard work and dedication to the BC Women's Soccer program.

The 2012 BC Women's Soccer senior class included Melissa St. Louis, Sharon Chuchuney, Catherine Quinn, Florina Petcu, Colene McFarlane, Tonia Jerrick and Karolina Gorna.

The Bulldogs scored early and often to put the game away, as BC recorded five first half goals en route to their 8-0 win.

Freshman Shani Nakhid-Schuster, Quinn, sophomore Shani Abrahams and Chuchuney all notched first half goals, with Abrahams scoring twice, to put BC ahead. Chuchuney's goal was the first of her collegiate career, and was only fitting to happen on Senior Night.

Quinn and Nakhid-Schuster would strike again in the second half, while sophomore Valentina Monroy capped the scoring for Brooklyn. Monroy's goal was the first of her career.

Gorna played all 90 minutes in goal for BC to earn the shutout win.

Coach Horne will look to build on the success of his inaugural season and come back with an even stronger team in 2013, as the Bulldogs will look to make a push for the conference championship.
