Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Tennis team remained unbeaten in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, as the Bulldogs got the better of the Bearcats of Baruch College, 6-3. With the win, Brooklyn moves to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in the CUNYAC; while Baruch falls to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
The match originally took place on Thursday, October 5th and would be halted due to rain after doubles play with Brooklyn taking wins in two of the three doubles flights to gain a 2-1 advantage.
For Bulldogs, the duo of
Liana Rivkin and
Gianna Gelosi won at #2 doubles, while the pairing of
Olayinka Sarayi and
Maryam Esperanza F. Razaz was victorious at #3 doubles.
The match would resume with singles play on Monday, October 8th, as Brooklyn took home wins in four of the six singles flights en route to its 6-3 victory.
Yuliya Orkis, the September CUNYAC/HSS Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September, continued her stellar play, winning at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Rivkin,
Maria Sanz and Gelosi rounded out the wins in singles for BC, coming out victorious at #2, #3 and #6 singles, respectively.
Brooklyn will return to the courts on Wednesday, October 10th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in another key CUNYAC battle. The match is scheduled for 4:00 pm in Staten Island, NY.
