Women's Volleyball Splits Two at CUNYAC Multi-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New York, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team split a pair of conference matches on Monday at the CUNYAC Multi-Match hosted by Baruch College, as the Bulldogs fell to York College in the early match, before defeating College of Staten Island in the second game.

Coming against York, BC drop a hard fought four-set match, 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21). After losing the first two sets by two and three points, respectively; the Bulldogs edged out a win in the third set to force a fourth set. In the end, BC would be unable to force a fifth set, as the Cardinals took the match.

Brooklyn was led by junior Jillian Escobar, who registered 12 kills to go along with three service aces. Senior Alicia Sanchez added six kills, while Kristen King chipped in with five kills and four service aces. Senior Kathy Chu paced the offense with 25 assists and six service aces, while freshmen Sasha Roopchand and Yelizaveta Malysheva were solid defensively with eight digs apiece.

In the Bulldogs second game, BC swept the Dolphins of CSI in straight sets, 3-0 (25-15, 29-27, 25-23). Escobar once again led the BC offense with 10 kills to go along with 15 digs for the double-double, while Malysheva added seven kills. Chu dished out 19 assists, while Roopchand registered 15 digs.

Brooklyn will be back in action on Wednesday, October 10th, as the Bulldogs will be on the road to take on borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn). The match is scheduled for a 7:30 pm start time.
