Women’s Swimming Defeats Old Westbury; Men’s Swimming Falls to Old Westbury

Brooklyn, NY --- In a dual meet on Friday night, the Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams hosted the Panthers of the SUNY College at Old Westbury at the West Quad Center Pool. The BC Women were victorious 121-68; while the BC Men faltered 126-98.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs took first place in nine of the 11 women's events that were run on the night. Junior Valentina Monroy and Megan Pendergast paved the way with two first place showings each.

Monroy took first in both the 200-Yard Freestyle (2:18.51) and the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:16.32), while Pendergast touched first in both the 500-Yard Freestyle (6:21.77) and the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:27.40).

The foursome of junior Stephanie Caravello, Pendergast, and sophomores Laura Rodriguez and Patricia Velloza took first place in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 2:19.62 to kick off the meet.

Sophomore Angela Redekop (1,000-Yard Freestyle 15:49.29), Caravello (100-Yard Backstroke 1:12.98) and Velloza (100-Yard Freestyle 1:09.36) all took first place finishes on the night.

Making her collegiate debut, freshman Danielle Mollo-Siano took fist place in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 30.70.

On the men's side, diver senior Antonio Gaspar once again paced the Bulldogs taking first place in both the 1 and 3-Meter Dives. Coming in the 1-Meter, Gaspar posted an overall score of 139.28 and later on in the 3-Meter, he recorded an overall score of 180.60.

Senior James Marty and freshman Emil Isaakov also posted first place finishes, as Marty took first in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle with a time of 13:21.62, while Isaakov placed first in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:02.38.
