Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Swimming & Diving Team fell to the visiting Dolphins of the College of Staten Island on Wednesday evening, 153-74, at the West Quad Center Pool. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to an even 3-3 overall on the season and 1-3 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action. Staten Island remains undefeated at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the CUNYAC.
CSI would take first place in 10 out of the 13 events that were competed in on the night to control the majority of the meet.
Megan Pendergast accounted for two of BC's three first place finishes, as she was the first to touch the wall in both the 200-Yard (2:19.88) and 500-Yard (6:31.92) Freestyle events.
Stephanie Caravello took first in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:15.10.
Patricia Velloza just missed out on taking top honors in the fastest event of the night, the 50-Yard Freestyle. Velloza's time of 29.69 came up just short of CSI's Kelly Walsh's top time of 29.20. Velloza also took second place in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:06.65.
Valentina Monroy took home two second place finishes in the 200-Yard IM (2:39.49) and the 100-Yard Butterfly (1:14.95).
Brooklyn will return to action next Tuesday, December 11th, as the Bulldogs will travel to New Rochelle, NY to take on the College of New Rochelle in a non-conference meet. The meet is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
