Women's Basketball Cruises To 81-50 Win on Senior Night

Box Score

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team honored their seniors prior to Monday evening's contest, and those four seniors proceeded to combine for 61 points as Brooklyn ran past visiting Briarcliffe, 81-50.  The win brought BC's season record to 19-6, tying a program-high for wins in a season, while Briarcliffe falls to 16-5.

Seniors Justtine O'Callahan, Kathleen Haggerty, Lauren Plagainos and Melissa St. Louis were honored before the game as a part of the traditional Senior Night.  The foursome started along side freshman point guard Nicole Francomano, and the unit all had excellent offensive nights.

Plagainos, who had a game-high 20 points, did all of her scoring in the first half. O'Callahan finished with 19 on 8-14 from the field.

St. Louis had a double-double with 14 boards and 12 rebounds, while adding three assists. Haggerty, the crowd favorite on the evening, dropped in eight points to go along with six boards.  St. Louis and Haggerty's totals were both season-highs.

Briarcliffe began the game with a basket from Sasha Santamaria to take an early 2-0 lead, but it was the last lead they would enjoy on the evening as two St. Louis baskets, sandwiched around a Plagainos jumper, began what would be a 17-3 run, and a 17-5 lead for the hosts.

An Allison Donovan layup would increase the lead to 20, 31-11, and with Briarcliffe showing no signs of resistance, Brooklyn was able to balloon their lead to 34 at the half, and would win by the final margin of 31.

Francomano led all players with six assists, while scoring seven points and pulling down five boards.

Ifeanyi Ofili led Briarcliffe with 20 points and Jessica Little added 15 points in defeat.
