Men’s Soccer Rolls Past Berkeley (NY), 6-0

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team posted its second shutout of the season tonight, as the Bulldogs blasted the Knights of Berkeley College (NY) by a score of 6-0. With the win, Brooklyn evens its overall record on the year to 3-3.

“Tonight was a very solid all-around team performance,” said head coach Rawle Hensford. “We were very effificent moving the ball forward and capitalizing on our opportunities. We also did well defensively snuffing out the chances they had.”

Junior Pajtim Gjonbalaj got the Bulldogs up on the board early taking advantage of a goalie miscue, as the Berkeley net minder lost the ball in the box, allowing Gjonbalaj to score his first goal of the season to put Brooklyn up 1-0 in the 3rd minute.

Gjonbalaj would strike again in the 19th minute, as he took a pass from classmate Alwyn Adams to knock home his second goal of the night.

The game would remain 2-0 in favor of Brooklyn until the 34th minute, when junior Taras Frankivskyy took a pass from classmate Dmitry Prokofyev to put the Bulldogs up 3-0.

The BC offense would strike again just four minutes later, as Adams would help set up another goal, this time via a corner kick, allowing junior Kingsley Boakye to put the ball in the back of the net in the 38th minute to give Brooklyn a 4-0 cushion heading in the halftime break.

Brooklyn's offense would continue to flourish in the second half, as junior Peterson Petit Frere put the Bulldogs up 5-0 in the 51st minute with the help of sophomore Dedou Toure; while freshman Hassan Wehbeh capped off the scoring night for BC with an unassisted goal in the 78th minute, leading to the 6-0 Brooklyn victory.

Junior goalkeeper Stamatis Boundouris played the first 64:54 minutes in goal, while sophomore Saul Gonzalez Perez finished off the final 25:06 minutes to combine for the shutout. Each goalie recorded three saves on the night.

Gustavo Moreno played all 90 minutes in goal for the Knights, allowing six goals and recording one save.

Brooklyn will be back in action on Wednesday, September 19th, as the Bulldogs will play host to CUNYAC rival City College of New York (CCNY). The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm at Brooklyn College Field.
