Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Medgar Evers

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2012 season tonight against borough and City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) rival, Medgar Evers College. The Bulldogs tamed the Cougars in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-22). With the win, BC moves to 1-7 overall on the season and 1-2 in the CUNYAC; while Medgar Evers falls to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Junior Jillian Escobar led the way for BC with 11 kills, seven digs and six aces, while senior Kathy Chu dished out 13 assists, nine digs and three aces. Junior Kristen King added five aces and two total blocks and freshman Sasha Roopchand chipped in with nine digs.

Brooklyn will be back in action this weekend as the Bulldogs will travel to Poultney, VT for a quad-match. BC will begin against Gordon College tomorrow, Friday, September 21st at 7:00 pm and then take on host Green Mountain College and Bay Path College the next day, Saturday, September 22nd, at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, respectively.
