Box Score 2 Poultney, VT --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team split day two of the Green Mountain College Quad Match, as the Bulldogs defeated host Green Mountain, 3-1 (12-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-23), before falling to Bay Path College in a five-set thriller, 3-2 (25-21, 15-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-6). Brooklyn now stands at 2-9 overall on the season.
In BC's first game of the day against Green Mountain, junior
Jillian Escobar tallied a match-high 19 kills, while hitting a solid .432, to go along with eight digs and five aces. Senior
Kathy Chu dished out 36 assists, while freshman
Yelizaveta Malysheva chipped in with 11 digs and eight kills.
Green Mountain was led by Kara Egan's nine kills and 11 digs, while Megan Roy contributed with eight kills. Jennifer Seredejko registered 25 assists, while Sarah Davidson added 11 digs.
In Brooklyn's second game, Malysheva posted a match-high 14 kills, to go along with 12 digs to record a double-double, while junior
Kristen King added eight kills. Chu had another strong game with 39 assists and Escobar chipped in with 15 digs, seven kills and four service aces. Freshman
Sasha Roopchand finished with 18 digs and senior
Annalisa Carbonaro added 10 digs.
Bay Path was paced by Kate Bartels' eight kills, while Ashley Provost led the offense with 26 assists. Kacie Bayreuther ended the day with 23 digs, while Katelynn Hannan and Mikala Smith added to the defense with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Thursday, September 27th, as the Bulldogs will welcome Lehman College to the West Quad Center for a key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match up. The match is slated for a 6:00 pm start time.
