The night began festively as the team honored seniors
Jillian Escobar,
Manon Bailly and
Lisenia Rodriguez. Escobar and Baily, two four-year players, have been mainstays in the Bulldogs lineup, while Rodriguez has played well this season as the team's starting libero.
St. Joseph's showed some grit in the first set, as they took a hard-fought, 28-26 decision, even with a boisterous BC crowd making noise for the home Bulldogs.
In the second set, Brooklyn could not get much going, as the Bears jumped on them to take a 2-0 advantage.
The third set saw some of the night's most exciting action, as Brooklyn battled from behind numerous times to tie, and ultimately take 32-30 win, forcing a fourth set.
In the fourth set, with their backs to the wall, Brooklyn once again showed great fortitude in making a 5-0 run after falling down 22-16, to cut the deficit to one, but that was as close as they would get as St. Joe's went on for the 25-23 win..
Julia Bogdan led Brooklyn with 18 kills, while also posting 15 digs.
Lisenia Rodriguez had a match-high 22 digs, while fellow senior
Jillian Escobar posted nine kills, 14 digs and four aces.
Freshman
Anna Li had one of her best performances to date, notching seven kills while hitting at a .778 clip.
The Bears' Lauren Ganun had a match-high of 25 kills, while Megan Moran notched 20.
Brooklyn will be back at it tomorrow, as they play at CCNY in a match that will determine whether or not they will get a home match in the upcoming CUNYAC Quarterfinals.
