Box Score New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team edged out the Beavers of the City College of New York on Thursday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium, 3-2 (25-17, 17-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13), in a key City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match to clinch home court advantage for the upcoming conference championships.
With the win, BC improves to 11-15 overall on the season and 4-3 in the CUNYAC, while CCNY drops to 10-18 overall on the year and an even 4-4 in the conference.
Brooklyn has now locked up home court advantage for the CUNYAC championships, which will begin on Tuesday, November 5th with the quarterfinals round. The semifinals and final will be held on November 8th at Hunter College.
The match featured a tight, back-and-fourth affair with 35 ties and 23 lead changes throughout the five sets. BC opened the match with a 25-17 win in the first set, while CCNY took a 25-17 win of their own in the second. The visiting Bulldogs would go ahead 2-1 with a 25-21 win in the third before the Beavers answered with an identical 25-21 win in the fourth to tie it at 2-2, forcing a fifth and decisive set. In the end, Brooklyn would squeak out a 15-13 win to edge out the victory. The Bulldogs were trailling 13-12 in the deciding set and rattled off three straight points to close out the match.
Leading the BC charge once again was freshman
Julia Bogdan, who set a new career-high with 21 kills on a solid .390 hitting percentage. She also added 12 digs to record her third double-double of the season. Senior
Jillian Escobar added eight kills and six aces, while freshman
Francesca LoCascio finished the night with seven kills and three aces. Freshman
Crystal Wu paced the offense with 34 assists. Senior

Anna Li were strong defensively chipping in with 12 digs each.
For the Beavers, Leticia Marotti posted a match-best 24 kills, while Victoria Del Toro dished out 26 assists. Joanne Ling added 11 assists, while Veralucia Quispe contributed with 12 digs.
Brooklyn will close out the regular season next Tuesday, October 29th, as the Bulldogs will be on the road again to take on the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in CUNYAC action. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time.
