Men’s Soccer Falls in ECAC Quarterfinals

Box Score Galloway, NJ --- The #7 seeded Brooklyn College Men's Soccer team concluded its 2013 season with a 4-2 loss in the quarterfinals round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Championships against the #2 seeded Ospreys of Richard Stockton College on Wednesday night.

Stockton (13-6-2) controlled the first half outshooting the Bulldogs by a margin of 15-3, en route to scoring three goals in the period to put Brooklyn (10-7-2) in a deep deficit. The Ospreys' Anthony Colofranson had a hand in all three scores, as he found the back of the net twice in the 12th and 20th minutes, while assisting on Mike DeFeo's goal in the 17th minute.

The second half featured a much different BC team, as the Bulldogs held the shooting edge, 11-5, but was unable to overcome its halftime deficit. Following a goal from Jeff Morgan in the 53rd minute that put the home team ahead, 4-0, Brooklyn got a pair of late goals from Oleg Tykhonravov (83rd minute) with an assist from Dmitry Prokofyev and Taras Frankivskyy (87th minute) with an assist coming from Edison Nurcellari.

The late BC scoring surge would be too little, too late, as Stockton would cruise to its 4-2 win to advance to the semifinals. The Ospreys will play #3 Fairleigh Dickinson-College at Florham on November 16th.

Kamil Ostrowski played all 90 minutes in net for Brooklyn, totaling nine saves. His counterpart, Tim Brett, also played all 90 minutes in goal, while tallying five stops.

"I would like to thank the players for their commitment this season," said Head Coach Rawle Hensford. "We played a very good Stockton team and fought to the end. Seniors Peter Vavalle, Dmitry Prokofyev, Taras Frankivskyy and Colin Cargile epitomized what commitment is all about this season and will truly be missed."

After its second straight appearance in the ECAC Metro Championships, BC will look to continue its strong play in 2014.
