Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's and Women's Swimming teams defeated the Cardinals of York College in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action on Friday evening at the West Quad Center Pool.
The BC Women were triumphant 85-44 to improve to 3-5 overall on the season and 2-1 in the CUNYAC; while the BC Men were victorious 101-82 to improve to 1-6 overall on the year and 1-1 in conference action.
On the women's side, the Bulldogs took first place in the opening event, the 200-Yard Medley Relay, as the foursome of
Agatha Cremona,
Stephanie Caravello,
Megan Pendergast and
Enlisa Ng Ou recorded the top time of 2:33.91. Ng Ou also took first place in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:43.26.
Other notable swimmers for BC were
Valentina Monroy (13:18.27; 1,000-Yard Freestyle),
Nicole O'Brien (2:32.79; 200-Yard Freestyle) and
Jenny Lee (1:12.53; 100-Yard Butterfly), who all took home a first place finish.
Coming in the 50-Yard Freestyle,
Anju Gonzalez and
Danielle Mollo-Siano took second and third place, respectively.
Jacqueline Szpunt and
Nora Schreiber took second and third place in the 100-Yard Backstroke.
On the men's side,
Ka Ho Yeung took home first place finishes in both of the long distance events, as he was the first to touch the wall in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle (13:25.57) and the 500-Yard Freestyle (6:30.23). Yeung also added a second place finish to his night, posting a time of 1:35.39 in the 100-Yard Backstroke.
Kevin Barros (2:35.10; 200-Yard IM),
Maksym Soloninko (1:06.55; 100-Yard Butterfly) and
Maged Mahmoud (1:09.27; 100-Yard Backstroke) also took home first place finishes.
Along with Barros,
Sami Lerner (2:46.10) and
Anthony Siu (2:46.33) finished second and third in the 200-Yard IM.
Wilson Lee,
Seth Weiss and
Elliott Weinberg added second place finishes in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle, the 100-Yard Freestyle and the 200-Yard Freestyle, respectively.
The Brooklyn Women return to the pool on Friday, December 6th, as the Bulldogs will travel to borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) at 7:30 pm. Both teams will be in action on Wednesday, December 11th on the road against Purchase College at 7:00 pm.
