Women’s Volleyball Falls to Top Seed Baruch in CUNYAC Semifinals

Box Score New York, NY --- The #4 seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs team dropped their semifinals round match of the 2013 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Women's Volleyball Championships against the #1 seeded Bearcats of Baruch College, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-18), on Friday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex.

BC ends its season with a 13-16 overall record, while Baruch improves to 18-16 and advances to the championship final against #2 Hunter College, which will be played later tonight. Hunter defeated #3 Lehman, 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-12, 25-20), in the first semifinals match to advance to the final.

Brooklyn was led by senior Jillian Escobar and freshmen Julia Bogdan and Anna Li, as all three finished the match with four kills each. Escobar would go on to earn All-Tournament honors. Freshman Francesca LoCascio added three kills and five block assists, while classmate Crystal Wu dished out eight assists. Senior Lisenia Rodriguez contributed with a match-best 15 digs.

Rebecca Peralta and Sydney Parks paced Baruch with 10 kills apiece, while Crystle Dela Cruz handed out 33 assists. Amy Sung recorded a team-leading 12 digs.

With 13 of 16 players from this season's team expected to return in 2014, BC should once again be among the top teams in the CUNYAC next year.
