Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Sarah Lawrence Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bronxville, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team snapped its three-match losing streak on Sunday, as the Bulldogs swept the Sarah Lawrence College tri-match.

BC began the day by defeating Mitchell College 3-1 (32-30, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18) and later downed host Sarah Lawrence in straight sets 3-0 (25-12, 25-5, 25-18) to complete the sweep.

The Bulldogs improve to 2-3 overall on the season.

In the first match against Mitchell, Brooklyn was led by freshman Julia Bogdan who recorded a career-high 14 kills, while posting a .303 hitting percentage. Senior Jillian Escobar added 13 kills and 16 digs to register a double-double, while freshman Crystal Wu paced the offense with 29 assists. The Bulldogs racked up 18 service aces, led by freshman Francesca LoCascio who had five aces.

Coming against Sarah Lawrence, BC showcased a stellar hitting performance, posting a .418 hitting percentage (28 kills/5 errros/55 total attacks). LoCascio led the way with six kills. Wu dished out nine assists, while freshman Anna Li chipped in with six digs. Senior Manon Bailly served up five aces.

"I'm extremely pleased with the teamwork displayed during both matches," said head coach Joanne Riggs. "We are getting better with each competition. Seniors Bailly and Escobar are working hard to keep the energy level high, while the freshmen are putting up some impressive stats."

Brooklyn will be back in action this Tuesday, September 17th, when the Bulldogs will play host to the Panthers of the College at Old Westbury. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time at the West Quad Center.
