Women's Soccer Goes to 6-0 With 6-0 Win Over York

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Soccer Team defeated York 6-0 at the Aviator Sports Complex on Wednesday evening. The win is the Bulldogs sixth consecutive to start the season and remarkably the sixth consecutive shutout as well. Today's win was their first in CUNYAC play, bringing BC's record to 6-0, 1-0, while York falls to 1-5, 0-1.

Brooklyn's dominance has been incredible as the squad, only in their second year of existence, has outscored opponents 31-0 to start the season. In fact, the Bulldogs have only allowed eleven shots on goal in six games, a statistic that further demonstrates their dominance.

Patrick Horne, the team's second year coach, has been impressed by the team's development, commenting, "We are improving with each game." That is great news for the squad considering they are off to a tremendous start.

In this afternoon's victory, it was once again freshman Jordan Kerwin who stole the show, as she went for the hat trick, scoring three first half goals, to give her 11 total scores to date.

The rookie's outstanding play has been on notice by Coach Horne who praises her instincts, saying, "Jordan has a real nose for the goal."

Kerwin was not the only Bulldog to get on the board as Bergelie Louis also scored twice, and Sayla Flores scored once as well. Shani Abrahams assisted on two of Kerwin's goals and Flores' kick.

While the scorers show up in the box score, Coach Horne gives a ton of credit to freshman defender Jasmine Fermin, who has been a big reason for the six-game shutout streak. "Jasmine has been outstanding on defense," said Horne. "She has anchored that side of the field and not allowed teams to get many opportunities on our end."

Fermin, Kerwin and the rest of the BC team will be looking forward to continuing their hot streak as they see their second league game on the schedule this Saturday as they travel to Lehman in the Bronx for a 12 pm start.
