Box Score Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Soccer team continued its stalwart defensive prowess, as the Bulldogs registered their seventh straight shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon, downing the Lightning of Lehman College by a score of 2-0 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action.
With the win, BC improves to 7-0 overall on the season and 2-0 in the CUNYAC; while Lehman falls to 4-5 overall on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
The seven wins this season surpass last season's win total of six.
Junior
Bergelie Louis opened the scoring for Brooklyn with freshman
Jordan Kerwin assisting on the goal in the 25th minute.
Sophomore
Sayla Flores would later put the Bulldogs ahead, 2-0, in the 49th minute with junior
Shani Abrahams assisting on the play.
The stellar Brooklyn defense, anchored by freshman
Jasmine Fermin, held the Lightning offense to just two shots in the game.
Freshman
Kimberly Chacko played all 90 minutes in goal for BC, tallying a save. Her counterpart, Melanie Varillas also played all 90 minutes, while allowing two goals and recording 11 saves.
Brooklyn will be back in action on Tuesday, September 24th, as the Bulldogs will travel across the Verrazano Bridge to take on the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island, in a match-up between the current top two teams in the CUNYAC. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start time.
