Women’s Soccer Falls to CSI; Snaps Seven-Game Win Streak

Box Score Staten Island, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday afternoon, as the Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action.

With the loss, BC drops to 7-1 overall on the season and 2-1 in the CUNYAC; while the Dolphins remain unbeaten at 8-0-1 overall on the year and 3-0 in conference play.

Brooklyn would strike first in the 22nd minute, as freshman Jordan Kerwin, the reigning CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, struck for her 12th goal of the season, sending a shot into the top right corner of net.  Junior Shani Abrahams assisted on the play to help put the Bulldogs ahead, 1-0. Kerwin's goal set a new single season record for goals scored, surpassing Abraham's 11 goals in 2012.

BC would hold onto its 1-0 lead heading into halftime, despite being outshot 11-2 in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Kimberly Chacko helped keep the Dolphins off the scoreboard recording five saves in the period.

The Dolphins would continue to push the offensive tone in the second half and would eventually tie the game in the 70th minute, when Danielle Alexandrini found the back of the net with Samantha Wysokowski assisting.

The goal was the first given up on the season, ending the Bulldogs' scoreless streak of 699:52 minutes.

After finding the equalizer, CSI would take the lead just a minute later, as Wysokowski scored to put the home team up, 2-1.

The Dolphins would score their third and final goal in the 90th minute, scoring off of a corner kick, as Demi-Jean Martorano capped off the scoring with Krysta Percaccio and Alexandrini assisting on the score.

Chacko played all 90 minutes in net, registering nine saves and allowing three goals. Her counterpart, Victoria Donegan also played all 90 minutes, while giving up a goal and making three saves.

Brooklyn returns to action on Wednesday, October 2nd, as the Bulldogs will welcome the Lightning of Lehman College. The non-conference match is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start time at BC Field. The first 150 fans will receive a free BC Athletics t-shirt.
